Council appropriates money for plumbing and excess boat disposal costs at harbor

They’ve moved a couple more steps forward for the municipal boat harbor’s completion in La Crosse. The harbor at Isle la Plume has been under construction since the fall when the city booted the last harbor manager, took over the operation and started a massive renovation. New docks have been in for months and boats are steadily mooring there. Thursday night, the city council approved an additional $250,000 for the project to deal with excess costs associated mostly to the challenge of dealing with abandoned boats there. OPELOUSAS, La. –  As soon as May 11, the Opelousas City Jail will be closing its doors. This comes after several notices from the Department of Health to make repairs to the facilities. Millbury-based plumbing business allegedly was front for marijuana growing operation
